Announcing a New Tool for Requesting Access to Data through National Data Systems

October 26, 2010

Data Access Request Tracker (DART) is replacing the National Data Systems e-mail based data access request and document submission process. DART is hosted by VA Informatics and Computing Infrastructure (VINCI). VINCI developed this new SharePoint software application in collaboration with VIReC, National Data Systems (NDS), VHA Privacy Office Health Information Access and others.

NDS will use the DART application for managing NEW research requests for data access coordinated by NDS. Requests that already have an assigned NDS Tracking Number are required to continue to use the VHA Real SSN Access Request e-mailbox until the request is completed.

Researchers may visit the NDS Data Access Intranet Web page for information about the NEW request process and the link to DART at http://vaww.vhadataportal.med.va.gov/AboutUs/NDS.aspx (copy and paste this link into your browser).

VIReC presented a Cyberseminar on DART on October 18, 2010 which included a DART demonstration by Jeff Scehnet of VINCI. The archive of this presentation is available on the Intranet at: http://vaww.hsrd.research.va.gov/for_researchers/cyber_seminars/archives/vdm-101810.cfm (copy and paste this into your browser).
