Description: This session will provide an overview of the US Department of Defense’s Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP), which funds research on diseases, conditions, and injuries that affect active duty servicemembers and/or Veterans across the enterprise (e.g., biomedical, clinical, rehabilitation, and HSR). CDMRP has a long and rich history of funding important research conducted by DoD, VA, and other federal agencies, academia, small business, and non-profit organizations nationwide and around the world. Dr. Vaday will present on CDMRP's programs, funding opportunities, and policies, highlighting areas that may be of interest to VA investigators, including women’s health research. Dr. Engel has long track record of funding from diverse sources, including CDMRP and will describe his experiences in creatively blending VA-based with non-VA based funding to support his research portfolio. Dr. Sadler will provide institutional context and insight from her non-VA research funding experiences both as a mentor and investigator.
Intended Audience: VA-based researchers and clinicians
