VA Data Access Preparatory to Research Requirements

Description: Do you want to prepare a funding proposal for a new research study? Or develop a new research protocol for submission to an IRB? Do you need preliminary access to VA data to ensure it will meet your cohort specifications and study objectives? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then don't miss this presentation! Designed for both new and established VA data users, we will focus on the regulatory requirements for requesting VA data access for preparatory to research purposes. We will provide an overview of the documents required and information needed for prep to research, as well as helpful VHA web resources to inform and support the data user's path. Our primary goal is to simplify compliance with the prep to research data access request process.

• Clarify the regulatory requirements for prep to research data access and use
• Provide a brief overview of data sources, tools, and VHA web resources
• Review the two primary forms needed for prep to research data access requests
