Description: VIReC is presenting the second in a three-session miniseries on data access designed for new and established VA data users. This particular session focuses on the resources, regulatory requirements, and processes for requesting access to VA data for preparatory to research purposes. Our primary goal is to increase awareness and understanding of how to obtain the data needed to support the development of a new research protocol on behalf of Veterans. Linda Kok, MA, is Senior Analyst for Data Policy and Access at the VA Information Resource Center (VIReC) and a representative from VA Informatics and Computing Infrastructure (VINCI) will be available during audience Q&A.
Objectives:
Outline types of data access for prep to research purposes and the various data sources, tools, and provisioning options available
Explain regulatory requirements that do and do not apply to prep for research
Provide a brief overview of using the VHA Data Portal and submitting a DART request for prep to
research data access
