Description: Description: The purpose of the QUERI initiative to Advance Diversity in Implementation Leadership (ADIL) is to promote implementation, quality improvement (QI), and evaluation leadership opportunities with the ultimate goal of improving Veteran health. QUERI strives to grow a pipeline of implementation, QI, and evaluation expertise from populations that reflect the diversity of the Veterans VA serves and promote VA as a national leader in applying high-reliability, learning organization and evidence-based policy methods to improve health care, especially for underserved and marginalized populations.
In this cyberseminar, we provide an overview of ADIL and showcase learnings from two ADIL awardees – Dr. Sarah Wilson and Dr. Yuvaram Reddy, who have partnered with VHA Tobacco & Health, the VHA Office of Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, the VHA Office of Geriatrics and Extended Care, the VHA LGBTQ+ Health Program, and the VHA National Kidney Program. Dr. Wilson’s ADIL focuses on disparities in hospitalization outcomes and access to care among hospitalized older adult Veterans. Dr. Reddy’s ADIL focuses on evaluating practice variations in home dialysis use within VA (the LETS-GROW-HOME study).” His project pairs site visits with direct observations, semi-structured interviews, and an analysis of home dialysis documents, to inform the development of a home dialysis logic model that will be used to help identify implementation strategies to expand home dialysis use.
1. Provide an overview of the Advancing Diversity in Implementation Leadership (ADIL) program—a career development opportunity for underrepresented individuals—which is supported by the Quality Enhancement Research Initiative (QUERI).
2. Describe how ADIL awardees have created and leveraged operational partnerships with the VHA National Kidney Program.
3. Describe strategies for prospective ADIL awardees to approach mentoring and operational partnerships.
