Abstract:

This symposium will review different approaches for managing co-occurring chronic pain and substance use disorders. Objectives: 1.Describe the clinical challenges associated with treating patients with co-occurring chronic pain and substance use disorders. 2.Outline empirically examined approaches for managing co-occurring chronic pain and substance use disorders in different clinical settings. 3.Discuss future areas of research designed to improve outcomes among patients with co-occurring chronic pain and substance use disorders.
