Ilgen MA, Goldman E. Cognitive behavior therapy for suicide in Veterans with substance use disorders. Suicide Prevention [Cyberseminar]. 2017 Jun 12.

Abstract:

Veterans with substance use disorders (SUDs) are at clear elevated risk for suicide. The presenters' research group is in the process of testing the efficacy of an evidence-based intervention to reduce suicide risk with Veterans in SUD treatment. This seminar will review the literature on the link between substance use and suicide, as well as the cognitive-behavioral model for suicidal thoughts and behaviors. Presenters will provide descriptions of techniques and strategies to specifically target suicidal thoughts and behaviors among those with SUDs.
