Equine-assisted services for Veterans: Current state of the field and future directions

Description: The presenter will first review the published scientific literature regarding the utilization of equine-assisted services (EAS) for Veterans. Based on the literature reviewed, the current state of the scientific development of the EAS field will be discussed. Lastly, steps to move the field forward will be presented, including the development of a model EAS intervention and research program at the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System.

Target audience: The presentation will be of interest to mental health and recreation therapy professionals and researchers.
