Description: We will review different methods of meta-synthesizing qualitative studies and provide an example of a recent paper in which we used thematic meta-synthesis to derive common themes across 18 studies on stakeholder perceptions of lethal means counseling for firearms. We will also review ways to evaluate and describe confidence in qualitative review findings, including the Confidence in the Evidence from Reviews of Qualitative Research (CERQual) Approach.
Intended audience: Individuals familiar with qualitative data analysis who are interested in learning more about how to conduct a meta-synthesis of qualitative studies
