by Susan Frayne, MD, MPH ; Ashley OToole, PhD(c) ; Fay Saechao, MPH ; Debra Saliba, MD, MPH, AGSF ; Uchenna Uchendu, MD ; Donna Washington, MD, MPH ; Elizabeth Yano, PhD, MSPH
Seminar date: 1/26/2017

Description: Some vulnerable Veterans may experience disparities in health and healthcare outcomes. These disparities adversely affect groups of people who have systematically experienced greater social and/or economic obstacles to health and/or a clean environment based on racial or ethnic group; gender; age; geography; religion; socio-economic status; sexual orientation; mental health; military era; cognitive, sensory, or physical disability; and other characteristics historically linked to discrimination or exclusion. The current roundtable discussion will feature subject matter experts who served as chapter leads for VA’s first ever National Veteran Health Equity Report. Panelists will explore the state of health and healthcare, trends, best and promising practices, and other pertinent health equity issues that should be considered for improving health for racial/ethnic, women, rural and other Veterans. Target audience: Researchers, clinicians, care coordinators, policy makers, educators, Veteran stakeholders and representatives of vulnerable Veteran groups who are interested in understanding and/or promoting equitable health among all Veterans.
