Description: The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Spinal Cord Injuries & Disorders (SCI/D) Registry (SCIDR) is one of the largest SCI/D registries in the world and is the case-identification platform for VHA SCI/D studies. VHA SCIDR cases, etiology, injury level, impairment, and onset/injury dates are available. This session introduces the VHA SCIDR as the SCI/D population case-identification platform and how to connect the data set to all Veterans' VHA healthcare data.
Objectives:
• DESCRIBE the history of VHA data management and stewardship for VHA SCI/D System of Care registry data capture 1994 through 2022
• UNDERSTAND how to access, navigate governance structure, and interpret the comprehensive VHA SCI/D Registry (SCIDR) data
• UNDERSTAND the VHA SCIDR within the context of other US and international SCI/D data sets
• POSITION the participant to use the VHA SCIDR for case identification/phenotyping, program evaluation, performance measure development and research
