Abstract:

In 2013, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) funded 19 Centers of Innovation (COINs), each with unique research foci and partnerships between researchers, clinicians, and operations leaders. Portland VA's COIN, the Center to Improve Veteran Involvement in Care (CIVIC), emphasizes community based participatory research principles and patient engagement in research at all stages. To support this goal CIVIC set out to implement a veteran engagement group (VEG).
