Description: Designed for new and established VA data users alike, this Data Access Miniseries session focuses on the regulatory requirements and processes for requesting access to VA data for operations (i.e., non-research) purposes. In addition, we will look at look at various resources available to support operations data access. Our primary goal is to increase attendee awareness and understanding of how to access VA data for operations use, such as program assessment, quality improvement, and other non-research objectives related to analyzing and improving the quality of services and care provided to Veterans.
Objectives:
1. Provide general guidance for VA data access for operations or non-research purposes
2. Explain the regulatory requirements specific to operations data access
3. Review tools and resource available
4. Show step-by-step instructions for completing an Electronic Permission Access System (ePAS) request
5. Address data sources for operations access that must be requested outside of ePAS
