Outcomes and Spending from VA vs. Community Care: Evidence from Ambulance Rides

Description: This Cyberseminar will present results from a study of VA versus community provision of care from ambulance rides to the emergency department among Veterans dually enrolled in VA care and Medicare. The study shows a reduction in mortality and spending for Veterans sent as good as randomly to the VA. The study also uncovers large differences in reported care for these Veterans between the VA and community care. The cyberseminar will also discuss instrumental variable methods that are key for arriving at these results.
