Description: Food insecurity, defined as poor and/or inconsistent access to adequate and nutritious food, has long been viewed primarily as an economic issue, but this view if rapidly changing. Dr. Whitham will review emerging research that redefines food insecurity as a crucial, multi-factorial determinant of physical, psychological, and social well-being. In addition, the presenter will discuss new research that highlights how integrative, nutrition-focused interventions may be used to enhance psychosocial rehabilitation efforts for injured Veterans.
