Integrating Peers into Suicide Prevention

Description: Dr. Pfeiffer will review the spectrum of peer roles and their potential for addressing suicide risk factors. The presentation will also cover the current state of research and practice regarding the involvement of peers in suicide prevention in VA. Mr. Jones will speak about his experience as a peer support specialist working with Veterans at high risk for suicide, including as part of a pilot research study. Intended Audience: Suicide prevention researchers, suicide prevention coordinators, peer support specialists and their supervisors, local recovery coordinators, mental health and suicide prevention program managers.
