Description: Sleep disorders are common among servicemembers and Veterans, and while there are known sex differences in sleep and sleep disorders, studies in VA have largely focused on men. This talk will review a program of research focused on sleep disorders in women Veterans who use VA healthcare, including diagnosis and treatment of insomnia and sleep apnea, which are the two most commonly-diagnosed sleep disorders among VA users. The implications of these findings for patient care will be discussed.
