Description: The Implementation Planning Assessment Tool provides a list of necessary steps for trialists and researchers aiming to improve implementation, including scale-up and spread, of effective, clinical-trial-tested interventions in healthcare settings. Clinicians and researchers who are new to implementation science may also benefit from the tool. We will showcase how the tool was developed using principles from implementation science, a retrospective application of the tool in a completed clinical trial showing missed opportunities, and a prospective application of the tool in a new clinical trial. We will also provide future directions and expansion of the tool’s use outside of VA.
