Description: Joint Longitudinal Viewer (JLV) is the VistAWeb replacement for electronic health record (EHR) chart review. JLV allows access to complete health records from VA and DoD legacy and modern systems. It can be used as a bridging technology for VA’s EHR Modernization transition, ensuring safe, high-quality healthcare and benefits delivery. As sites transition to the Cerner Millennium EHR, JLV provides users from either system an opportunity to view information residing in the other.
This session is the first of a two-part series describing what is needed to begin using JLV for research, including an interactive presentation on setting up a JLV workspace for basic research tasks. The audience will learn the purpose of JLV, how to request research access, and how to effectively use a workspace for research purposes. This session is appropriate for users new to JLV. Those interested in more advanced JLV techniques should register for Joint Longitudinal Viewer (JLV) and Research Part 2: Exploring VistA and Cerner Based Data scheduled July 25, 2022.
Objectives:
Attendees will learn:
• What is JLV and what are its limitations
• How to request JLV access for research
• How to set up an efficient JLV workspace
• Methods for finding information in JLV
