Description: Abstract: Every year numerous local operational quality improvement efforts take place within VA’s Primary Care clinics, with no clear understanding of whether or not such interventions work. This presentation will provide an overview of the Primary Care Innovation Lab. A description of how the innovation lab was established and how the innovation lab collaborates with primary care operational leaders to complete high priority, pragmatic, innovative, and rigorous QI evaluations. Topics will include the processes of the innovation lab, how we create evidence, and turn the knowledge into practice on a local level. The talk will describe results of key QI projects and share lessons learned from the first 2 years in operation.
Target audience: Frontline providers and staff, researchers, and operational leaders interested in quality and process improvement.
