An Evaluation of the Veterans Crisis Line (VCL): Immediate Outcomes, Healthcare Utilization, and Risk for Suicidal Behavior

Description: Veterans Health Administration (VHA) created the Veterans Crisis Line (VCL) as a 24-hour point of contact for Veterans who are at high-risk for suicide. Despite being a widely used healthcare service targeting a VHA priority, there is paucity of research on the effectiveness of the VCL. The program of research that will be presented has examined the effectiveness of the VCL on immediate outcomes, treatment utilization, and risk for suicidal behavior. Intended audience: The intended audience is interested VHA policy makers, researchers, and clinical staff.
