PETALS (Patient Engagement Tracking and Longterm Support): A New HSR&D Resource for Communicating with Veterans via Text and IVR

Description: PETALS is an HSR&D initiative designed to serve as a resource to investigators nationally who need a secure, compliant VA platform for developing and deploying text-messaging (SMS) and automated calls (IVR) as part of research studies with Veteran patients. This presentation will give an overview of PETALS and allow for exploration of use cases that researchers could pursue with PETALS’ resources. Intended audience: Investigators and clinicians who want to pursue integration of automated data collection using text message (SMS) and IVR (automated telephone calls) for surveys, brief interventions, PROs, and other projects gathering patient outcomes.
