Measuring Veterans' Medicare Health Services

Description: This session will provide an overview of Medicare data available to VA researchers and describe how these data can be used to identify Veterans' use of health services paid by Medicare. Measurement strategies and examples of VA research that utilize Medicare data will be presented.
Objectives:
• To identify Medicare data that can be used to assess Veterans' health services use in Medicare.
• To discuss strengths and limitations of using Medicare data to assess health services use.
• To describe measurement strategies for evaluating Medicare health care use.
