Description: Natural language processing (NLP) is one commonly used method to provide data for clinical research and decision making by extracting data from electronic medical record systems. The VA COVID-19 Shared Data Resource is a data domain containing information related to COVID-19 in and outside of VA. This Cyberseminar will present some of the various NLP methods used to supplement data elements that are not completely or consistently captured with structured data including duration of mechanical ventilation, symptoms, and some conditions. Intended Audience: Investigators, project managers, and analysts that are interested in utilizing natural language processing to achieve health services research aims.
