by Westyn Branch-Elliman, MD, MMSc ; Hillary Mull, PhD, MPP
Seminar date: 2/25/2021

Description: This presentation will discuss the development of a data extraction and measurement tool that combines structured and unstructured data captured within the VA EHR. We will use cardiac device procedures as an example system for how the data measurement tool works, and potential future applications of text-note searches for research and quality improvement within the VA. Intended Audience: VA researchers interested in learning how to apply text note searches to improve data collection and quality improvement, cardiologists and infectious disease specialists interested in learning about how the novel technology can be applied in real-world settings, and patient safety advocates interested in advanced electronic surveillance strategies.
