Description: The recently released Institute of Medicine (IOM) report “Improving Diagnosis in Health Care” highlights both the problem of missed and delayed diagnoses and the imperative to measure and improve the diagnostic process. In this Cyberseminar, the Houston VA Patient Safety Center team members will discuss some of their work on measuring and improving the safety of diagnostic test results communication. They will outline how they partnered with VA operations and policy leaders on multifaceted clinical practice and policy initiatives to impact follow-up of diagnostic test results, including addressing CPRS-based electronic notifications (i.e. View Alerts). This team was recently awarded the 2016 VA Health Services Research and Development Health System Impact Award.
Dr. Amy Kilbourne, Director of QUERI and Acting Director of HSR&D, will provide a brief introduction for Dr. Hardeep.
Intended audience: Aimed for a broad audience: All VA staff, researchers and others interested in quality, patient safety, policy and informatics.
