Description: Implementation strategies are critically important because they represent our toolbox to overcome barriers to the adoption and routine use of evidence-based practices. One of the key criticisms in the field is a lack of comprehensive definitions of what we mean (what was actually done) when an implementation strategy was used through something like a high-tailored glossary. This presentation describes processes for tailoring discrete implementation strategies from the Expert Recommendations for Implementing Change (ERIC) compilation to reflect the context and innovation-specific needs of a project. The relationships between the strategies utilized in a project and ERIC are not always immediately apparent and often require the perspectives of diverse members of a team for these relationships to be meaningfully identified. Details from an ongoing community-engaged research project implementing behavioral health interventions in African American churches will be used to illustrate the building of a highly tailored glossary. Considerations for selecting a tailoring process and the impact tailored glossaries can have on implementation strategy recording and reporting will also be discussed.
